The lab focuses its research activities on two important areas of Information Technology, namely Software Engineering and Internet Technologies. In the first area, SEIT focuses on Cloud Computing, Service Oriented Architectures, Context-Aware Middleware Platforms, Smart and Mobile Computing, Open Source Software and Empirical Software Engineering, for the development of pervasive, self-adaptive applications and Smart IoT services. In the second area, the Laboratory concentrates on the development of ICT-enabled Environments, platforms and tools for implementing Health monitoring and support services, Smart and Personalised services for Elders, Assistive Technologies for people with disabilities and Creativity services. The lab also pursues activities related to Technology Enhanced Learning, E-Business, E-Government and developing environments for elders’ social inclusion, active ageing and independent living. Finally, the lab’s research is also related to Creativity, Recommender Systems, Crowd Sourcing and Privacy Enhancing Technologies.

WE ARE PART OF THIS PROJECT BECAUSE WE WANT TO…

We are interested in such a field as a university that wants equal rights for men and women. Educating children about equality and fairness provides them with knowledge that they can apply outside of the classroom – in fact, many will carry it with them into the school halls and playground, their families, and the larger community. It teaches responsibility and understanding, which may help establish a brighter, kinder, and more equitable school culture, as well as reduce bullying and other undesirable behaviour and raise achievement and ambitions. As a university we are looking forward to learning even more from the partners of the project and expanding our knowledge on such a topic. Furthermore, we are very interested in learning new technical skills to carry out the project results of the project.
